Luton's Specialist Legal Advice Charity
Luton Law Centre is Luton's specialist legal advice charity. We have been helping Lutonians with free legal advice since 1989.
We help people resolve their legal problems so they can get on with their lives. We help them get the support they are entitled to, or get regress for unfair or wrong decisions.
Last year alone, our small team took nearly 3,000 calls and opened almost 800 new cases.
What We Believe
We believe that Luton Law Centre is a valuable local resources and we use our legal expertise to stand up for the rights of disadvantaged people.
We believe that society is stronger when everyone has access to justice, regardless of their means.
Where We Can Help
We give advice and offer a full legal service in the following areas of law:
- Community Care
- Housing
- Immigration and Asylum
Who We Can Help
Our Telephone Advice is available to anyone, free of charge.
Our casework services are more restricted, because we have limited resources. We try to ensure that we help people who are less able to help themselves, and cannot afford to pay for legal advice.
Most of the people we help are living, working or studying in the Borough of Luton. We can help people from outside Luton but what we can do may be limited by the Legal Aid scheme rules.
Our Team
We have a team of six legal experts who deal with Housing, Immigration and Asylum, and Community Care.
We are assisted by law students and volunteers who gain skills and experience while supporting the admin of the charity.
Our Board
Our Board of Trustees is made up of up to twelve individuals who bring their skills and experience to manage the policy and strategic direction of Luton Law Centre, and oversee its financial performance.
If you would like to be considered for membership of the Board, please do get in touch with us. We have some formal processes, but we would be very glad to hear from you and talk over how you could help us.
